CMS team#
The CMS team is here to help you with the technical aspects of your work. A lot of you (probably all) will have to work with computer code and software, usually in a Linux/Unix environment. You might also need to access and/or share large amounts of data, work on different servers, etc.
Some of you will be somewhat familiar with these tasks whereas they will be new to others. We are here to help whatever your technical knowledge is. We are happy to answer any questions, we can’t necessarily do everything but feel free to ask as we might have ideas or we might know who you should contact and what to exactly ask.
The members of the CMS team are:
Located: University of Tasmania
Email: paola.petrelli@utas.edu.au
BIO: Paola is the CMS team leader and data expert. Paola started in her role as data expert with the previous ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science. Before joining the centre she managed oceanographic and climate datasets for the Tasmanian Partnership for Advanced Computing (TPAC), acquiring extensive experience in web services and software used by the earth science research community. She received a Science PhD from the University of Siena (Italy) in 2005, with a project involving modelling of Antarctic polinyas. Paola sets the centre strategy and provides advice on data management practices. She leads the data collaborations with our partners and NCI to manage shared data resources. An important part of her role is to publish CLEX data and metadata on public repositories such as the NCI data services, ESGF and ANDS Research Data Australia (RDA). Contact her if you need advice for your data management plan and to access, download, store, share and/or publish data. She also provides support with data analysis, in particular using python.
Although we won’t ignore emails sent to our individual addresses, our preferred way of contact is through our help desk email address: cws_help@nci.org.au. Contacting the help desk will make sure your email is seen by one of us in case the person at your institution is away for example. Don’t worry about the help desk email being an NCI account, you can still ask any question there.
